Health Coaches are knowledgeable advisors who provide ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable changes that improve your health and happiness. As your Health Coach, I will listen carefully and help you to navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what changes are necessary for you.
Your personalized program will radically improve your health and happiness. Together, we will explore concerns specific to you and your body and discover the tools you need for a lifetime of balance.

Cathy Hughes is a true believer in the power of food. A loving mother of four, Cathy has battled autoimmune disorders all of her adult life and learned first-hand the benefits of a whole food diet and healthy lifestyle.
Beginning in college, Cathy dealt with chronic fatigue and other health issues, but just assumed that was her ‘normal’. Her introduction to integrative medicine began when a friend who developed adult-onset Type 1 Diabetes gave her a copy of Dr. Andrew Weil’s book, Natural Health, Natural Medicine.
During the next 15 years, with a growing family, Cathy dealt with a range of health issues that affected both her and her children. Despite being diagnosed with and treated for a variety of autoimmune disorders, Cathy found that the most effective treatments for her complaints were natural remedies and changes in diet. She started to research the growing field of integrative medicine.
Cathy cautiously eliminated dairy and soy from her diet (challenging for a nursing mom) and immediately recognized an improvement – both in her own symptoms and those of her newborn daughter. She became a believer in the healing power of food and the need for individualized diet plans to promote optimal health.
Having successfully applied the teachings of leading integrative medicine and preventive health care practitioners in her own life, Cathy decided to become a Certified Health Coach and help others make gradual, lifelong changes to reach their health goals. Cathy trained at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City and is certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. She has also obtained Continuing Education Units from Purchase College, State University of New York and studied over 100 dietary theories and the pros and cons of each in the ever-changing field of nutrition science.
Cathy works with each of her clients to understand their health concerns and explore their health and family history to create an individual program to best address their needs. She is passionate about the quality of the food we eat and works with clients to incorporate food and lifestyle choices that allow them to lead happy, healthy lives in a way that is flexible, fun and free of denial and discipline. Her years of research and experience, coupled with her passion and caring create a supportive environment that allows each client to explore what really works for her/him.
Cathy leads workshops on nutrition and offers health and nutrition coaching to individuals and families. She is a frequent speaker on the power of food, lowering the toxicity in our daily lives, and living an energized and passionate life.
I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition's cutting-edge Health Coach Training Program.
During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts. My teachers included Dr. Andrew Weil, Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine; Dr. Deepak Chopra, leader in the field of mind-body medicine; Dr. David Katz, Director of Yale University’s Prevention Research Center; Dr. Walter Willett, Chair of Nutrition at Harvard University; Geneen Roth, bestselling author and expert on emotional eating; and many other leading researchers and nutrition authorities.
My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and preventive health. Drawing on these skills and my knowledge of different dietary theories, I work with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness, which means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we will look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole.
My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions or good and bad foods. Instead, I work with my clients to create a happy, healthy life in a way that is flexible, fun and rewarding.
Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.
